The word ‘ragu’ means sauce in Italian, though usually a sauce including tomatoes, so I am using the term lightly. This ragu could be served over pasta (you would need to add some good beef bone broth) or as a stuffing for a baked potato or sweet potato (which is what I am going to do). Very easy, all in one frying pan – onion, garlic, ground beef (grass fed, 90% lean), sliced mushrooms (baby bella) and some Worcestershire sauce. This sauce had a really nice deep flavor.
1 tbsp. olive oil
1 medium onion – finely chopped
1 large clove of garlic – grated
1 pound of ground beef – grass fed, 90% lean if possible
8 oz. sliced baby bella mushrooms – washed
Dash of Worcestershire sauce
Heat oil in a frying pan and when nice and hot tip in the onions and let soften and brown.
Add the garlic and cook for a further couple of minutes before the addition of ground beef.
Let ground beef brown a bit then add the mushrooms and a dash of Worcestershire sauce.
Cook for about 15 minutes, stirring fairly frequently.
