Caramel Frosting for Cakes

Caramel Frosting for Cakes

This makes a lovely frosting/icing for an apple cake as apples and caramel go so well together. If you dilute it with extra almond milk it could be a sauce for a dessert. In the days before my intolerances developed I didn’t even know of almond milk or almond butter and if I had I wouldn’t have thought off trying them. Now a container of home made almond milk is in my fridge at all times. This is so simple to make and tastes delicious. Maple syrup and vanilla extract are the two other ingredients. The whole result is rather sinful. I imagine it would go well as a dip for apples cut into segments for a snack or to go into a lunch box.

1 cup almond butter

2 tbsp. almond milk (home made if possible)

3 tbsp. pure maple syrup

1 1/2 teasp. vanilla extract

Place all ingredients in a bowl and whisk until smooth and thick.
